My name is Taryn Murray-I am a fashion student at the University of Alabama, back home in San Francisco for the summer. I am working at West Coast Leather as the social media manager, model, and fashion trend blogger. Last week, I got to do my first ever photoshoot, and it was a huge moment for me. As someone who's still in school figuring out my future with fashion, getting to be hands-on with this shoot was a dream.
This jacket was designed by American Fashion Designer, Skip Pas and was made at our factory in Los Angeles.
The real star of this shoot is this beautiful custom made leather jacket. A woman custom ordered that we make her a men's style jacket in this cherry brown color, after showing her over 20 swatches of different colors and textures from the tannery's that we work with. There is something so timeless about a men's style leather jacket-clean, structured silhouette. And tailored to a woman's frame? Now thats where the magic happens.
Women deserve pieces that make them feel powerful, and this jacket really stands out. It embraces bold, classic menswear styling and tailors it for a women's frame. It's cool, bold, and timeless. The moment I saw this jacket come in, I knew I wanted to wear it in my photoshoot.
This is the kind of piece that instantly elevates anything you pair it with-like a pair of jeans with boots or a kitten heel, or a mini dress with a cute pair of heels.
Oversized silhouettes have been everywhere lately-and for good reason. They give off that effortless vibe while still feeling put together. Style icons like Bella Hadid, Kylie Jenner, and Rihanna have all emebraced the oversized leather jacket as a wardrobe staple, proving that slouchy is the new sleek. This jacket really ties into this trend with it's structured yet roomy fit.
What's been most inspiring about working here is seeing how much thought and effort goes into every detail of every piece-from design sketches to final fittings. This jacket isn't just about looking good; it's about feeling powerful in your own skin. Being a part of a team that values both craftmenship and confidence has shown me how fashion can be more than just style.
This summer has already been full of firsts for me, and I'm excited to keep sharing more!
