We recently had the pleasure of interviewing model Malaya Rodriguez who has done two photoshoots with us, both with photographer Anthony Carosella.
Q: When did you start modeling for West Coast Leather and how did you get involved with us?
A: I started modeling for West Coast Leather 2 years ago after hearing about them all over the Bay. The unique designs immediately caught my eye and I instantly became obsessed.
Q: Tell us a little bit about your background.
A: Fashion and creating has always been such a passion of mine. During high school I lived in California, Arizona, and Washington. After experiencing all the different fashions and styles of each state, I knew California was the place for me. After I graduated I chased my dream and haven’t stopped. Sky’s the limit!
Q: What is your favorite thing about modeling?
A: Creating!! I love to meet others who share the same ideas and passions as me. Being involved in the creative culture is such a blessing truly my favorite part of modeling.
Q: Talk a little bit about the last photoshoot you did with us and the one prior?
A: My last photoshoot with West Coast Leather was so much fun I loved the edgy vibe with the snake outfits and San Francisco setting! We started off at a deli with the blue snakeskin and ended on a street vibe with the white leather jacket. Two years ago I started with WCL with a store shoot modeling the white mini bomber, black and white zip dress, as well as the amazing tiger dress.
Q: What is your favorite style of modeling?
A: My favorite style is editorial. I love going outside my comfort zone creating a story and developing a character. Seeing the end results of an editorial shoot always gets me so motivated and excited!
Q: What got you inspired to model?
A: My mom! She is my biggest inspiration. Always encouraging me to chase my dreams and motivating me on what’s to come. My brother as well. He always takes the time to send me inspiration pictures or poses that he thinks will look great, as well as gathering walking videos for me to practice. I don’t know what I would do without my family.
Q: What is next for you?
A: Never really certain on what is next I have a lot of plans though. 2026 is non-stop head down grind time, so whatever life throws at me I’m ready!!
