Skip Pas, the founder and owner of West Coast Leather, recently sat down and was interviewed in a podcast to discuss the brand and its history.
He was interviewed by Eugene Kremloff of Sublime Studios. Skip was joined by 4 of his models who wore his leather clothing.
Skip discussed outfitting famous Hollywood actresses for movies like Goldie Hawn in "First Wives Club" and Sharon Stone for the movie "Casino." He told other stories like Lisa Marie Presley coming into the store on Madison Avenue in New York with Michael Jackson outside.
One of the things he mentioned was that at first Lisa couldn't find anything she wanted to buy. However, you couldn't tell anyone that Lisa and Michael came to the store and didn't buy anything, so he went downstairs to make sure that she had something that she liked and she ended up walking out with an amazing purchase.
Another story that was told was when Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan came into the Water Tower Place North Beach Leather store in Chicago in 1987. He came in with rookies Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant along with "The Enforcer" Charles Oakley. He bought them all shearling jackets with really long arms and really long bodies.
Skip elaborated on how generous it was for Michael buy two of the rookies and one of the power forwards jackets and what it was like to help them pick out their jackets.
